"Yoga nidra is the yoga of aware sleep. In this lies the secret of self healing. Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is relaxed"
My NEW Yoga Nidra class starts this evening at 8-8.45pm online. Everyone is welcome and no experience of yoga is needed.
Unsure what Yoga Nidra is? Read on to find out more!
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a practice of yoga which does not involve any movement, but instead focuses on allowing the body to be in a relaxed state in order to prepare the body for sleep. In Yoga Nidra, I will guide you through a relaxation, focusing on elements such as the breath and the body, using visualisations to help your mind tune out and the body to be in a state of total calmness and relaxation.
Who can practice Yoga Nidra and what do I need to join?
Anybody is welcome to practice! You do not need any experience of yoga. Traditionally Yoga Nidra is practiced lying down comfortably on your back (known as savasana, or corpse pose) but any position that is comfortable for you is great! To make the practice more comfortable you may wish to have:
-cushions to support your head and neck
-a warm drink
-a quiet place where you are not going to be disturbed
Having low lighting, candles or anything else that helps you feel relaxed is also great!
What are the benefits of Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra can help with:
-Reducing stress and anxiety
-Helping to elevate mood
-Release tension physically and emotionally
