Updates from New Zealand! 🌍🌊📧

It's been a while since I shared what I've been listening to, reading and doing whilst I have been in New Zealand, so here's a few updates including a summer salad recipe which is delicious!

Podcast I've been listening to:

My lovely yoga teacher, Michelle Rose Boxley does a wonderful podcast around the lunar cycle and seasons

Music:

I've recently discovered Sophia Spallino - here is the link to her Spotify

Book:

Rewire Your Mind: Discover the science and practice of mindfulness

Dr Shauna Shapiro

Is a really interesting read on rewiring your brain which often defaults to the 'negativity bias' and how we can use mindfulness to bring us back to a more positive outlook.

What I've been up to in New Zealand!

I've been busy doing some extra training in pelvic health physio (a weekend in Auckland below!) as well as finishing my dissertation for my masters and keeping up all the admin, website and emails ticking along with classes in the UK- as well as working my normal physio job here!

We've managed to explore plenty of beautiful beaches and hikes and started park run at weekends too.

Don't forget you can join me on Wednesday nights (UK time) live 7.30- 8.30pm for your mid week wind down online!

Summer salad recipe

This one was shared with me at a course for work in Auckland and it was delicious!

1 cup French lentils – cooked until just done (soft but not squishy)

1 cup quinoa – cooked until just done (little ‘tails’ appear)

1 cup pomegranate seeds (summer) or dried cranberries (winter)

2 coloured peppers chopped (summer) or 1 C roasted butternut pumpkin cubes (winter)

½ cup raisins

½ cup chopped coriander

½ cup chopped parsley

4 Tbsp finely chopped capers Juice of 2 lemons

3 - 4 Tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup toasted pumpkin seeds

¼ C toasted pine nuts

Mix all together and check taste is good, adjust as necessary. If making ahead of time, hold off adding the nuts and seeds until serving to ensure they are still crunchy.

Thanks so much for all your support and understanding with class cover and cancellation over summer.

It's just me on a different time zone juggling it all behind the scenes, so your patience is much appreciated.

I miss you all -

Love from New Zealand

P.S the cats are well!

Meet Jacqueline

"There was a time when I looked like I was holding everything together on the outside but on the inside I felt exhausted, disconnected and lost.

I had spent so long looking after other people, striving, meeting expectations and pushing through that I had lost touch with myself.

My confidence had faided and I had forgotten who I was underneath it all.

What I discovered changed everything.

The answer wasn't to work harder or become a different person. It was learning to connect with myself- my values, my strengths, my desires and the wisdom of my own body.

I'm Dr Jacqueline Lavallee, a Health Psychologist andTransformational Coach. I support people to rediscover what energises them, reconnect with matters most and create a life that feels more aligned, meaningful and alive"

Meet Ruth ...

I'm Ruth, a yoga teacher, physiotherapist with an interest in pelvic health and lover of adventures.

After 10 years of working shifts  in healthcare I was burnt out and anxiety set in.

I knew something had to change.

That's when I turned to yoga- I completed my teacher training in 2019 and qualified in various styles of yoga including pregnancy, yin and restorative. That's when Energise Yoga was born.

I discovered how transformative yoga was for my whole life

I'm here to guide you back to your body, to empower you to move in ways that feel good and connect to the wisdom that yoga can teach us.

For me, it's not about fancy leggings or flexibility. It's turning up exactly as you are and welcoming every version of yourself to the mat - past, present and future.
