The Heart Chakra - Anahata

We have been focusing this week on the 4th chakra- the heart chakra. The heart chakra is also known as the ‘central chakra’ with 3 chakra sitting above it and 3 below it. It is associated with the colour green, which is symbolic of transformation and change. The symbol for the heart chakra is a 12 flower lotus petal with two triangle at it’s centre to make a star.

The heart chakra anatomically includes the lungs, heart, circulatory system and is associated with the element air. It is suggested that like love, air is all around us and if we can keep this flow of love going like air, we can keep well connected to ourself and others.

When there is plentiful energy in the heart chakra you feel

-loved

-connected to friends and family

-a sense of acceptance

-able to readily forgive

-show empathy and compassion

-ready to accept change

When our heart chakra is depleted in energy or blocked you can feel

-isolated and lonely

-unable to let go of grudges

-a sense of jealousy

-defensive

-it difficult to trust others

Affirmations for the heart chakra

-I am loved

-I deserve love, respect and compassion

-I forgive myself and others around me

-I am surrounded by loving energy

Poses for the heart chakra (focused around opening up at the centre of the heart)

Dancers pose- Option to use a strap to assist

Cobra (option to bring elbows down into Sphinx pose)

Bridge pose- option to place block under hips to support, or come into one legged bridge with a leg lifted in the air

Songs for the heart chakra

One of my favourite ones and on Februarys playlist!

Breathe it in, let it go

The power is here now

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

"There was a time when I looked like I was holding everything together on the outside but inside I felt exhausted, disconnected and lost.

I had spent so long looking after other people, striving, meeting expectations and pushing through that I had lost touch with myself. My confidence faded and my energy was depleted.
I had forgotten who I was underneath it all.
What I discovered changed everything.

The answer wasn't to work harder, or become a different person. It was learning to reconnect with myself, my values and my strengths, my desires and the wisdom of my own body.

I'm Dr. Jacqueline Lavallee, A Health Psychologist and Transformational Coach. Through a blend of psychology and transformational coaching I support people to rediscover what energizes them, reconnects you to what matters most and create a life that feels more aligned, meaningful and alive.

Because I believe that you don;t need fixing.

You need remembering.

When you connect with who you truly are, extraordinary things become possible"

"I'm Ruth. A yoga teacher, musculoskeletal and women's health  physiotherapist  and lover of adventures.

After 10 years of working shifts, on calls and full time in healthcare I was burnt out. Working in a system that didn't work with my wellbeing. Anxiety set in and I knew something had to change.

That's when I turned to yoga - I completed my Yoga teacher training, going on to do my yin, restorative and pregnancy yoga qualifications and Energise Yoga was born.

I am here to guide you back to your body and help you move in ways that feel good, didn't think was possible and connect you to the wisdom that yoga teaches it.

It's no fancy leggings or even flexibility just simply turning up as you are and welcoming every version of yourself pas present and future

I truly believe in the power of movement in the body - whether that's exercise, walking, yoga on a mat, or off the mat.

Movement is medicine, but we also need the right mindset too

This is where our Next Season takes us - both connection to mind and body to take you back to yourself and discover the power of connection"
